Sparkle Rose

The other day, sitting around the dinner table, the kids were talking about the baby and what we should name it.  Since we have a boy name picked out they were mostly focusing on girl names.

My youngest girl, who is six, told me her very special name.

Sparkle Rose
she said that if it was a girl, we could use her “very special name”.

I had a hard time keeping a straight face, I wanted to laugh out loud…Sparkle Rose!?

 However
she was very serious.
Dadzoo and I  then told her, that since it was so very special to her, she ought to save it for her first daughter.

She looked relieved.
It was sweet of her to offer that very special name.

There Is Hope

I think I have about had it with this winter.
First, lots of snow
then, lots of smog and fog
now, subzero temperatures.
All while battling morning sickness and pregnancy fatigue.

I think that bears have the right idea, go to sleep during the pretty colors of autumn, and wake up the first part of spring, skip winter altogether!

As I was sitting at my kitchen table writing blog posts and skimming through pictures on my computer I came across some pictures I took this past spring and summer.  It was like a breath of promise and hope…this winter will not last forever!  Not only will there be green, and colors and my vegetable garden again, there will be a new baby, there are so many wonderful things to look forward to this year, so no more gloom for me, only looking forward.

I thought I would share some of my nuggets of hope.

Pineapple

In the last few years I think the pineapple has become my most favorite fruit
(so much for sustainable and local, I know…)
A couple weeks ago I went to a women’s meeting for my church and they used pineapples as a theme, and lucky me got to take one home!!!
It has been sitting on my counter top slowly ripening (I like mine very ripe and sweet) and it is now looking like it wants to be cut up and eaten…mmmm!
I am thinking another batch of Pineapple Vinegar is in order as well.
What is your favorite fruit?
