Wonderful Busy Day

I meant to post last night, but it ended up being a really busy, really late night
***
These were delivered early Tuesday morning
aren’t they beautiful
and shiny
and so pretty
they are going to solve all my problems
make my kids behave
make me lose 30 pounds
and make my PIC come home happy
***
well…..
not really
but they will make laundry a tad easier.
With my old dryer it took 4-70 minute cycles to dry a load of socks and kitchen towels. That same time for a load of Levis (with 7 people in the house I have a lot of Levis). A load of bathroom towels….oh wow….almost all day! I needed a solution…..
Ta-da……here is my solution….aren’t they pretty…..(sorry I think I already said that, but aren’t they?)
As soon as my PIC got home and ate dinner he got to work. These machines stack so we needed a little modification in the laundry room (really more like a laundry/pantry closet!)
I love a man wielding a power tool.
There is something so manly about it.
mmmmmmm……

Since the laundry closet had to be emptied, this is what our kitchen looked like, I also hadn’t cleaned up dinner all the way…what a mess….it is going to be a late, late night!
I need a coke!

Oh, Oh the washer is in…isn’t it pretty!!!

Hmm….thinking…..thinking….thinking…..

“STOP with the camera!” he says
I feel like the paparazzi

ya-ho…the dryer is in
whoa
Houston, we have a PROBLEM

See the plug

See where the plug needs to go
problem
about six inches too short
(This is when the camera gets put down.)
After a quick call to Home Depo, a 90 minute trip into town, and a custom, 40$ plug made (they don’t just make them longer than about 6 feet) we are on our way.

And he is smiling again…
that is a good thing
a VERY good thing

And here they are!!!!
aren;t they pretty, and shiny and oh so nice,
and pretty
(sorry, did I say that already?)
See the first load turn round and round.
I think we stood there for about 45 minutes and just watched.
We are kind of boring people…
You know you are old when you get excited about a new washer and dryer.

And here we are all put back together, sort of.
I would like to put in cupboards, and a real counter top.
(I am saving my pennies!)
Before the washer and dryer took up the whole wall
it will be nice to have more space in there.

Aren’t they so pretty!

HELLO!!!

Well, heeeeeello
handsome

Yes, beautiful blue eyes
I’m talkin‘ to you!

I love this outfit, it makes his
blue eyes just pop!
(thanks Savoy and Jesica)

Oh, whoa, he’s on the move
you commn‘ in for a kiss?

Whoa…..

Hey there big guy….

Your Dad is gonna kill me
if you get a hold of his camera!
******
Now I know that this is my third post today. I can just hear my younger sister saying “where do you find the time?” (Now, in birth order she is younger than me, but we all know that really, she should be older than I, she is way more mature! Seriously) The thing is, I really don’t have “the time” to blog three times a day. I think I just blog so I can put off doing the things I should be doing: like cleaning house, doing laundry, washing dishes, or reading to my kids. Blogging is so much funner!

Punk #3

This is punk #3, or the middle punk. She is definitely a middle child!
I never have to worry about trying to find her in a crowd,
she will find me
and she will let everybody know
that she found me.
*******
There she is waving.
She is in afternoon Kindergarten and since the program is in the morning she was dropped off at her class room right before the program started.
Looks like she forgot to take her coat off.
Oh man, she looks like one big coat,
and there she is on the front row…playing a part!
“Hey, Sarah, Sarah…..SARAH!!!!”
Me and about 10 other mom’s are trying to get her attention
She is too busy bouncing up and down (the kid can’t sit still)
“SARAH!!”
“Oh, what mom?”
“Take your coat off”
“What?”
“Take your coat off!! Your coat!…good, quick bring it to me”
Whew, got that taken care of, now we can see her
and her “blitzen” name card.
When they got to her part of the song she got to jump high in the air.
She practiced, and practiced that part.
For days…and days…and days….

My sweet, intense, bouncy punk #3!

Now, I promise this is the last post about my kids program
Until the end of the year.
And then we get to go to three more!!!
WooHoo!!!

Bread Recipe

As requested, here is my bread recipe. I have made this with all whole wheat flour, it is a really heavy bread, I prefer it half and half. I have also learned that when using whole wheat flour you can’t neglect the kneading, you need to work with it until the dough is smooth or the gluten won’t develop properly.

Half and Half Wheat Bread

2 ½ cup warm (115 degree) water
1 Tbsp active dry yeast
¼ cup honey
3 Cup whole wheat flour
1 Tbsp salt
¼ cup butter
3-4 cups white flour

1-pour water into small mixing bowl
2-Sprinkle in yeast and add honey. Let yeast dissolve without stirring. Yeast will form a tan coating over the water in 5 to 10 minutes. Don’t let it stand so long it becomes light and foamy; it will lose its life.
3-While yeast is dissolving, sift together 3 cups whole wheat flour and salt in to large mixing bowl (I use my mixer) Add butter to flour and salt and cut in.
4-Add yeast mixture to four mixture. Beat well to make a sponge. Cover with plastic wrap or damp towel and let stand 10- 15 minutes.
5-Gradually add white flour to the sponge, never exceeding the lower measurement of 3 cups, adding only enough to make soft dough.
5-Turn onto well floured surface and knead 8-10 minutes, adding flour only as necessary to prevent sticking.
6-Return dough to bowl and cover with plastic wrap or damp towel. Let rise one hour in warm place or until double in bulk.
8-Punch down and divide into 2 portions
9-Shape in to loaves and put in greased loaf pans. Let rise.
10-For superior texture, punch down, reform loaves and let rise a second time.
11-When dough is almost double in bulk bake 30 minutes at 400 degrees, or until done.
12-Remove from pans and let cool on wire rack.

This also makes wonderful light white bread, just use white flour throughout the recipe.

Needed

In October I decided that I needed to get up and cook breakfast for the family. I wanted us to all sit down at a meal together at the start of the day, to pray and read scriptures. Now anyone who knows me well will understand how hard this is for me. I love to sleep in, getting up any time before 9:00 is a struggle. My perfect schedule would be bed time at 2 am and wake up at 10. Too bad the rest of the world doesn’t work that way. Seriously between 9 pm and 2 am I do my best work. So for me to drag my sorry behind out of bed at 6:30 to cook breakfast, smile and actually be nice to people is really hard. Regardless, this is what I did; I got up, cooked breakfast, smiled and was nice to my kids and hubby at 6:30 in the morning. I have really loved it. It seems to center the family; we get to talk to our kids in the morning before they run off into the world. We have a time to pray, and study scripture. It has become something I look forward to instead of dread!

Over the Christmas break I didn’t get up, I was too tired and the thought of sleeping in was too wonderful. My Partner in Crime was fine with that, he didn’t complain. He got up, showered, skipped breakfast and left without a lunch while we were all sleeping. He remarked a few days later that he kept forgetting to take his medicine in the mornings because I wasn’t there to give it to him with breakfast and that he just felt “off”. I laughed and said “you mean your day doesn’t go right when I don’t fix you breakfast and give you a kiss as you walk out the door?” In all seriousness he said “yes”.

Wow

It sure feels great to be needed.
