Amazing

I had an amazing morning.

Let me tell you all about it.

I woke up this morning at 6 am. I got dressed, did my hair and make-up perfectly. I turned on the shower so the water would be warm and quietly kissed my PIC awake. After about 10 minutes of lovin PIC showered with a smile on his face, as I went to start breakfast. On the menu today: French toast, bacon, fresh fruit (delivered this morning from my local organic farmers co-op) freshly squeezed orange juice, and milk. Once I got breakfast stared I woke up the little girls, kissed them, and sent them to set the table with a playful swat on the bottom. I went down stairs and woke the older girls, who cheerfully got up and got dressed, they chatted happily together as they picked out perfectly matched, perfectly pressed outfits and came up-stairs for breakfast. We all studied the scriptures and had an amazing gospel discussion before I served hot French toast with melting butter and powder sugar. Breakfast was pleasant.

After the older girls scurried off to clean their room and practice piano. I sent PIC off to work with a lunch (roast chicken, mashed potatoes, cookies, money for a drink and a tossed salad) and a kiss; he waved to the kids as he got in his car. While the girls were doing their morning chores I started working on mine. I got the dishes done, the counters wiped off, two loads of laundry washed, dried, folded and put away. Then I sent the girls off to school at 8:30 with perfectly styled hair, and a kiss on their freshly washed faces.

I then made all the bed, got the little kids dressed, combed and washed. I put the baby down for his nap in a neat and tidy room. The little girls read books quietly while I did my own personal scripture study complete with prayer and journal writing. When I was done with that I scrubbed the toilets, washed the floors and vacuumed the house. After my chores were done the little girls and I sang primary songs while we folded socks and panties together. Then I made lunch, leftovers from last night, roast chicken, mashed potatoes and a toss salad; the salad was their favorite part!

About noon we all put our coats on and I bundled up the baby in a coat, gloves and hat. We walked kindergarten punk to the bus stop and after we waved her good-bye we went on a two mile walk to get our exercise. We got home at about 1:00, my little baby girl punk scampered off to nap while I rocked and sang the baby to sleep. I ate lunch really quickly, a freshly toss salad with lemon juice, and now I am taking a blogging break before I finish the laundry, iron, and clean out a couple of closets before I have to stop and make an afternoon snack for the school kids.

Now, are you all rolling your eyes!!!

Haha!

Do you want to hear the real story?

I woke up about 10 minutes before PIC got out of the shower, I yelled at the little kids to wake up, I stomped on the floor to wake up the older girls. I picked up the baby and gave him a bottle in his high chair as I made a quick pot of oatmeal. We ate quickly while PIC read a verse of scripture. One of the big girls practiced piano while I argued with my oldest about how sick she said she was. I finally told her she could stay home from school, but if she was sick enough to stay home she had to stay in bed, no movies, no toys, nothing. She got well really quickly. I sent PIC to work with a kiss and a lunch (sandwich, granola bar and an orange which I am sure will still be there tonight). The big kids did get their piano done, but their room is a mess, their hair is done, but whether the outfits match, that is questionable. Once they left I plunked baby boy in bed for his nap, turned on a movie for the little girls and put in a load of laundry. Then, I went back to bed, yes, I went back to bed! When I got up about an hour later, we all got dressed, combed and picked up bedrooms. The kids got a PB&J for lunch and I sent the kindergartner off to the bus with her two friends (I hope they don’t miss it!) So here I am, blogging when I have toilets to clean, floors to scrub, scriptures to study, laundry to fold, iron and put away! You know what? I don’t really care! HA!

One Year Old

About a week ago I went and had Baby Boy Punk’s 1 year old pictures taken, along with his oldest sisters 9 years old pictures. He wasn’t as happy as she was about the whole process.

However, we did get some pretty cute shots

I think I am still in shock that I accually have a BOY!

Isn’t She Lovely

Maybe it is the mother in me

But, I think she is just beautiful

This is my oldest, and there are times I just look at her and think:

“some how we got all the genes lined up right, because she is so pretty!”

My Beautiful Girl!

Sometimes is just takes my breath away to think this little creature came from me.

Sigh…..

Usually on Friday’s I do a Mr. Fluffy post, but today I just don’t have the heart. I am still trying to lose the pounds I gained over Valentine’s Day; it is going to set me back a whole month. I get so frustrated with myself. Why do I do this! Why, for the momentary pleasure of a chocolate candy or a hamburger, do I sabotage my dreams and goals of being at a healthy, attractive weight? You would think I could stay focused, you would think all the down sides would keep me on track. They don’t. You would think sitting at a family party and looking over everyone and realizing that I am the biggest person there, besides my husband (we are a pudgy couple) would kick my butt into gear. It makes me so sad, and depressed and frustrated; all I want to do is go home and eat something sweet to sooth myself. You would think that the fact that nothing in my closet fits me would be a motivator; it only makes me want to reach for another Dove Chocolate. I am so frustrated, I want to get past this mental block, but I don’t know how. I know the formula to losing weight is to eat less and move more, but there just seems to be so much more to this. I spent my twenty’s having babies, nursing babies and gaining weight. I don’t want to spend my thirties waddling around after those babies.

Biscuits

This recipe is so good! All the ingredients can come off your pantry shelf which makes for a perfect food storage recipe. With a total time of 30 minutes from start to finish it makes for a quick side bread to any meal. Best of all it is yummy, flakey, buttery, biscuity goodness!

Here is our cast of characters:
4 cups flour
2 Tablespoons Baking Powder
2 teaspoons salt
2/3 cup shortening
1 1/3 cup milk, or buttermilk or yogurt
(simple huh!)

To the flour you add all your dry ingredients. You can also use wheat flour if you want to, but I think the white makes a lighter biscuit, and anyway, this isn’t a healthy, fat free type of item, why mess with that and use whole wheat?

Stir the dry ingredients together with a fork

Then add the shortening.

Cut in the shortening with a pastry blender. If you don’t have one (I don’t, I really, really, want one, but I can’t find on anywhere. If any of you happen to see one, pick it up fo me, I will pay you back) Or if you don’t have one (me, me) use two butter knives.

You want the shortening to blend in, but do not mix it in well, I need to be in little clumps. That is what makes it flakey.

Add your milk, (powder milk if you are using food storage) or buttermilk, or yogurt. If you don’t have buttermilk on hand and would like the flavor of a “buttermilk buscuit” Add 1 Tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice to the milk before you add it.

Stir it all up with a fork and dump it out onto a lightly floured work surface.

Taking care not to mix in the shortening too much; with your hands moosh (is that a word? moosh) it into a ball

Roll it out until you get it to your desired thickness. I like it to be about 2 inches thick, the thicker the dough, the thicker your biscuit

Now cut out your buscuit. If you would like to be a fun mom/wife/girlfriend/person, use fun cookie cutters.

If you don’t care and just want to get the job done, use a cup, like Punk #1 is doing.

Stick them all on a cookie sheet that has been lightly sprayed with cooking spray, or greased with shortening. You can put the biscuits really close together, they won’t spread out, they will raise up.

Bake at 425 degrees for 10 t0 15 minutes, until golden brown.

Now doesn’t that look yummy. Wonderful, flakey, down-home goodness.

Drizzel with honey, jam, apple butter……..and sink your teeth into warm biscuit heaven.

If I am doing this recipe for breakfast (it is yummy with eggs and sausage and if I really want to throw caution to the wind, I will even make gravy, but only sometimes, well, I think I have only done that once…) I will mix everything but the milk the night before and stick it in the fridge.

In a couple of days I will post the recipe for homemake pancakes, they are as quick and easy as buying a mix and much better for you!
