What a Man Needs

I have been mulling this post over in my mind for a few weeks now. It stared when I read a cute little post from a lady who was celebrating her 5th wedding anniversary. She listed about 20 things that a wife should know. They were cute, and funny, however I thought they were a little demeaning. She made it sound like her husband was a 5 year old (I know, sometimes they seem to act like a 5 year old, but heck they aren’t!). It got me to thinking about what our husbands really need. I think it comes down to two things

1. He needs to feel like a King in his castle, the head of the family, the boss, the CEO, the hero, the provider.

2. He needs a soft place to land.

I will write more about these later.

Why I love to Blog

10 Reasons why I
Love
to Blog

10. Blogging fills my already full day

9. Blogging helps me sort out my own thoughts

8. Blogging lets me connect with people from all over the globe

7. Blogging keeps me connected to family

6. Blogging helps me appreciate the small simple things in my day to day life

5. I love to read about all the really good people out there.

4. Blogging has helped me become a more confident person. I can write about who I really am and there is no body there to tell me I am nuts. I was at a picnic with some neighbors the other day and my friend mentioned to another lady that I dry my clothes on a line. The other lady rolled her eyes at me. That is the kind of stuff I avoid when I blog. I can talk about what I am doing and my life and I don’t see others reactions.

3. In blogging land my romantic sensibilities are appreciated. The dreamer in me hasn’t always been appreciated in my very practical family, but in blogging land there are a million dreamers. I have learned to be comfortable in my own skin, and that is freeing.

2. I love the sharing of ideas and tips from other homemakers.

1. I think blogging is fun.

The Great Bathroom Clean-up

Crystal over at Biblical Womanhood has challenged us to de-clutter today. I am just off of one big huge week of de-cluttering! The children’s rooms are nice and tidy and de-cluttered! (for now anyway)

I decided today I was going to tackle my bathroom. We do have two bathrooms in our house, however the master bathroom is the one where all the “grooming” takes place. With 4 daughters it can quickly become a mess. The bathroom counter is especially messy.

Here is two days worth of primping and fluffing. My poor husband has to wade through all this. It really isn’t fair to him….

Here is a picture of the shelves above the toilet. They stay pretty clean, but sometimes they can get a little cluttery.

And the linen closet. It isn’t super bad. I have this thing with my towels.
I like them folded nicely….

Now we have the results of about 45 minuets of cleaning:

A nice tidy counter top

clean shelves

and….yay…..a neat and tidy linen closet.

Now for the rest of the house……

Hop on over to Biblical Womanhood and see what other gals have been doing.

It has been a while

It has been a while since I did a post. The last few days have been crazy! My kids are on Spring Break, so we have been busy doing a whole lot of nothing! Actually we have been doing a whole lot of spring cleaning….yipee for me, not a lot of fun for them.

Thursday we deep cleaned the bed rooms. From the cobwebs on the ceilings to the dust on the baseboards. We cleaned out closets and drawers. About a year ago my two oldest punks move to a new bedroom down stairs. My oldest has a hard time being that far away from her Mom, so we moved her back upstairs and moved Punk #3 downstairs with her sister. That move filled most of Thursday, and so far Punk #1 is doing much, much better.

Friday is our normal cleaning day. I scrubbed kitchens and bathrooms. We also took a couple of hours and went to the park (forgot the camera).
Yesterday (Saturday) my PIC spend the day building me a chicken coop. My chickens are getting big and need some more space. I spent the day running errands and holding up wire and boards where needed. I will post some pictures as soon as I can. I am very excited about my cute little coop.

Last week was a nice week. It was fun having the kids home and getting a lot checked off my to-do list. We have had a lot of wind!!! ARGH!!! I think Wednesday was the only day there weren’t horrible winds! It is driving me nuts! Last night there was so much dust in the air I had to shut the windows, even though the temps were really nice. I am seriously weary of this wind!

On a better note. I got some really beautiful pictures of these itty bitty daffodils that I planted. They are really sweet.

Here they are next to my regular daffodils. See how tiny they are. I planted 100 bulbs, and if it wasn’t so stinking windy I could get out and enjoy them! (and they wouldn’t fade as quickly)
