The Big 1-2

On January 28th my oldest daughter turned 12 years old
(I am seriously not old enough!)
Twelve is a big birthday at our house, kind of a coming of agething.  My daughter’s get to have their ears pierced, they can start wearing a little make-up (blush and mascara….period), and we go on a special shopping trip to pick out a special Sunday outfit.
(When children turn 12 in our church they get to go to the youth activities and Sunday classes)
So a few days before her birthday we set out on a shopping trip extraordinaire and picked out a very cute little outfit for her first Sunday in Young Women’s, we bought some make-up and then picked up Dadzoo for the piercing of the ears and a little dinner.

We had a great time.

although.
I am still in a bit of denial over the fact I have a 12 year old!

Happy Birthday Sarah

I have been a bad blog Mommy. I have been very distracted by something of a personal nature for a couple of weeks, and so I forgot to do a Birthday post for my wonderful Sarah! I had posts scheduled for two weeks, and when they ran out I just forgot. Sorry!

Anyway, my third child turned 8 on the 26th of March. It is a special Birthday for us. In our religion when a child turns eight, they are old enough to choose to be baptised.

The day after she turned eight, she dawned a white dress and was Baptised by her father.

We couldn’t be happier!

Head For the Hills!

Our backyard butts up against about a 100 zillion acres of nothing. It is a mixture of private and BLM property. It isn’t used for anything, just sits there, open and wild and is a great play ground for my children.

I usually won’t let them go up there in the summertime, there are rattlers in them there hills and I am a nervous Mama, however, spring and fall are play time!

This spring my two oldest have been rushing through their school work so they can run up the hill. They are making an “Indian Encampment”.

There are beds, places to store food, cook stove and a fire place.

It is all totally decked out.

My oldest daughter told me not too long ago “Now we have a place to go if we ever need to head for the hills!”

I think she has been listening to Dadzoo’s and my crazy right-wing nuttiness for too long.
