Clothesline

I have been using a clothesline for a few months now. PIC hung it in our unfinished basement. I used it to dry our Levi’s, and I have really liked it. I figure that any electricity I wasn’t using was a few pennies saved on our electric bill, and that is always a good thing.

With the beautiful spring weather and warm days I was anxious to put my clothesline outside in the back yard so I could really use it. I have visions of crisp sheets waving in the summer breeze. On Saturday PIC moved the clothes line outside and I could hardly wait to use it for my Monday washing day.

Monday dawned cold and cloudy

not great weather for drying clothes!

The rain was wonderful for my flowers and veggies.

There is something that is so beautiful and refreshing about a spring rain storm

Although, the rain drops were the only thing that hung from my clothes line that day.

Oh well, there will always be another day

and so many more loads of laundry!

  1. I am so impressed. I love the IDEA of a clothes line.(less electricity, fresh air smell, not having to wait for the dryer for the next load) But I KNOW I’m too lazy to actually do it. The dryer is just too easy. Way to go. I hope the good weather hits you soon. (But send some my way too will ya! haha)

  2. Mmmmm, I love the smell of sheets and towels off of the clothesline. I also like that rough feel of sun-dried towels.

  3. That reminds me of my great grandma Dede she had a clothesline and always had clothes hanging on it and I can just picture them blowing in the breeze! My Mom would love that I swear you guys are the same person!

  4. Jes, that is one of the best compliments you could give me, I really do love and admire your mother.

  5. I really think you should have lived in a different era. I admire how you are always thinking and trying to save or bake and everything. I always finding myself saying, wow I wish I thought more like Aimee. Also, my mom would love to have a clothes line in her backyard she loves they way they smell when they are dry…ditto to Jesica

  6. Aimee,

Your pictures are breathtaking! I can’t wait for some fantastic warm weather to get back to line-drying, too! It’s so serene and pleasant being outside with the fresh air, simply hanging garments to dry in the sun and warmth. So relaxing!

  7. I loved your pictures and descriptions too…but I couldn’t help but think the serene scene you depicted might play out a little differently out here where the wind really BLOWS! I can just picture those lovely sheets blowing past my window! With a bunch of little girls chasing after! He he he! And I could never picture a clothes line in my yard without picturing someone or something (other than laundry) hanging from it! But you go girl!
