4th of July

Have I mentioned that I love the
4th of July
I seriously do
I am a patriot
I love my country
and my silly husband who likes to take pictures of himself with the camera….
but that isn’t what this post is about
it is about the
4th of July.

Every year we go to my hometown’s parade
I say hometown,
but really I should say
“home suburb”
I grew up in the ‘burbs
about 15 minutes north of Salt Lake City

I really enjoy the parade
the local police, sirens blaring
lights flashing
going down the middle of main street

there I am holding baby boy punk
(this is probably the last time you will see my picture on my blog, so savor the moment)
he got a kick out of the police and emergency vehicles.

He kept turning around in my lap and saying
“bye-bye”
he wanted to get down really bad!

Awwww
The color guard
carrying “Old Glory”
Love that flag.

The local Boy Scouts passed out little flags and Tom thought they were fabulous!

Here we have some local heroes

This fellow married one of my best friends.

and you can’t have a parade without a marching band!

Afterwards we walked to the city park to take in the festivities.

Each of the punks got to have their face painted

We had a great day.

  1. Was it that good even without your favorite punk baby brother? You guys seriously looked like you had fun.

  2. What a fun day! They don’t do parades like that around here. I wish they did.
Have you seen the book Happy Birthday America by Mary Pope Osborne? It is a picture book that I got from the library for my son. It is a really neat story. Your post made me think of it.

  3. I loved the parades as a kid. We didn’t go this year. Half because we had a huge BBQ at my house this year and I didn’t do enough ahead of time. Half because last year the ones around us seems like one advertisement after another. No floats, hardly any horses. It just didn’t seem like what I remembered loving as a kid. Maybe next year we just need to go “back home” looks like they might still have it together! So glad you had fun. Your punks look like they enjoyed themselves.

  4. Your photos are gorgeous. I love how you Americans celebrate Independence Day. Your little boy really did love every minute, didn’t he?

  6. Looks like a great 4th! Aimee you look cute, I like seeing you on your blog.
