Weekly Schedule

Do you have a weekly schedule?

If you have a weekly schedule what are some of the advantages of having that schedule?

Excepting a couple months before the baby was born,  I have only ever had a very loose weekly schedule, I would do laundry on Monday and clean on Friday, but that was it.  I found that when I established a  weekly schedule my days and my week were more purposeful, my home was more orderly, clean and calm.  I was able to get my tasks done and have extra time to do things I wanted to do, I didn’t waste hours trying to figure out what needed to be done or doing several tasks but never quite finishing anything.  Once the baby came, my weekly schedule had to take a back seat, taking care of a small baby consumes so much time, and one never quite knows when baby will be sleeping or eating or otherwise needing attention, along with the other children in the household.  Like I said before we were on full survival mode, which is ok, it is a time and season, one that I am grateful for, there is nothing so sweet as having a new baby in the home.

However,
baby is now 3 months old, she sleeps 12 hours at night and takes at least two long naps durring the day, it is time to get back to keeping this poor neglected house!  So in the spirit of getting my house in order I will order my days like this:

Monday:
Laundry

Tuesday:
Kitchen

Wednesday:
Baking and cooking

Thursday:
Office

Friday:
Cleaning

Saturday:
Projects

Sunday:
REST

What does your week look like?

  1. I am more OCD and can’t do things weekly, my schedule is daily. Every day beds are made, a room gets vacuumed, my floor gets swept, my dishes get done right after the meal so my kitchen is usually clean, and laundry loads are done every other day. Big projects are for Saturday and big cleaning only gets done once a month (scrubbing floors and bathrooms). It works for me, for now!

    • I have a daily schedule too for the day to day stuff like beds and dishes, this weekly thing is for the bigger stuff..

  2. I like your idea to have a main focus for the day. How much time do you devote to that focus?
    Be blessed,
    Aimee
PS: My DH would love me to have the same focus as you do on Wednesdays–he so loves arriving home to cookies:)

  3. I’ve tried scheduling my activities, chores and such, inevitably something always came up and I would change it. I’d try going right back into the schedule and again I was interrupted, so I just do and get things done. My house is usually in order, not always immaculate but always comfy. You wont be icked out on something grossly neglected but you might see dust (not too thick).

My biggest thing is cleaning up as I go along working in the kitchen. I try to wipe down the bathrooms often with a major cleaning 2 or 3 times a month, when kids were home it was once a week for major cleaning 😉 Vacuuming is a must for once a week sometimes more if doggy is shedding. Of course wash is a weekly thing.

I look at your schedule and think I should dedicate a day to specific areas so that maybe I can get deeper cleaning done. Then I wont have to do it all in Spring!
