First Snow

I have many blog posts just waiting to be written, the last few months have been hard and strange and I am just starting to feel a little like myself again, although I think I have been forever altered, hopefully for the better.

We had our first snow of the season here on Quail Run Farm, we feel snug and cozy inside the warm farm house, as we prepare for Christmas and work on a few indoor projects.

  1. Love your pictures, and glad to see you are enjoying this beautiful snow. I remember when we were building 23 years ago. Fortunately we had most of the roof (sheathing) on so we could work on the interior walls. We lived in a motor home on site with a good size propane tank to keep it, us and our 2 dogs warm. We shared the house with some of the local raptors who found it very comfortable during the nights. We had a big heater to keep the work area “warm” that we would stop and warm ourselves up every 10 minutes or so.
It is so wonderful now to enjoy the warmth of our comfortable home and watch the snow coming down; no raptors, but junco’s, a pair of ring-neck doves and an occasional flicker eating off the deck railing where seed has been spread for them.
Got to go get the snow off of the deck before it gets too deep. Don’t know if I will make it out to church tomorrow.

  2. I am glad you’re feeling a bit more like yourself, but agree that the loss of a loved one leaves one, who goes through that loss, forever altered–but hopefully for the better.
We had our first snow this week — powder snow even — but I like yours better:)
    Advent Blessings,
